Due to installation constraints, especially the proximity of the metal perimeter fence, the grass verge and perimeter road, the previous solution employed was active IR towers. However, the IR towers proved unacceptable in this situation, as this type of configuration was plagued with false alarms and high maintenance issues.
The Sensurity Halo microwave units provided the ideal solution. A combination of air-side radar frequency compatibility, IP, narrow microwave beam footprint, minimal installation and remote set-up all combined to work seamlessly to provide very high detection rates.
This solution was proposed to the Airport Security Authority by the Perimeter Maintenance Contractor (Free Sat Srl) and a trial installation was commissioned. Following a detailed trial and extended evaluation of the Sensurity solution, during which the customers operating requirements were fully met, the order was placed. To fully commission the installation, Free Sat Telecomunicazione Srl, worked closely with Sensurity Technical Support to ensure customer satisfaction.
The result has been an outstanding success with virtually zero false alarms and 100% positive detections. The installed HALO systems are regularly tested with random intrusion simulations and the Airport Authorities are very satisfied with the outcomes and the higher level of protection provided.
